The Buck Ram Platters 2006:
We are thrilled to introduce to you the new line up for The Platters. While the
combination of voices is new, the music is still as sweet and the five-part harmony
will live up to even the toughest critics.  We will never claim to be the originals,
there is only one moment in time saved for them.  Our mission is to honor those
before us and create the music Buck Ram would be proud of.  The very nature of
show business today sometimes forces us to keep a pool of exceptional talent to
make changes from time to time.
John Haynes-John had been our bass player for several years. When encouraged to help with
vocals, we discovered a diamond in the rough. His range rivals that of the incredible Gene Williams,
who was our bass for 18 years, and his comic style is a sight to behold. This guy is always on; we
never know what to expect from “The Ham” in our group. Jean Bennett has compared him to Herb
Reeds flare for comedy throughout the Original Platters early years.  Because of his gentle nature, he is
often our communicator to make sure everything runs smoothly between the venues and the group.
Darrell Scott- Darrell was with the group several years ago but had to leave because of family
obligations. We missed him and are blessed to have him back Classically trained, Darrell studied voice
at Winters School of Music in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. He received a bachelors degree in music
education at Alcorn State University and has taught voice in his hometown, Las Vegas, Nv. His
beautiful rendition of EBB Tide will bring tears to your eyes, we know, we have seen it first hand.
Terry Forsythe- We are very fortunate to add this extremely talented and highly pursued vocalist,
arranger, producer, and songwriter to our family.  Terry has toured the world and recorded with various
big names such as B.B. King, Bonnie Raitt, Smokey Robinson, and Boys II Men (to name a few).
When he is not touring, you can find him hard at work sharing his passion for music with a church choir,
school production, or a nursing for senior citizens.  Always willing to give back, his philosophy of life
and of music is "When your blessed with a gift, you must give 100%.  I respect the gift and the art just
as much. I owe it to my Creator, to myself, and to whomever is listening to give the very best I have."
Otis Hembre-If anyone sees a familiar face in Otis, it is because he not only celebrated the 25th
Anniversary with the Buck Ram Platters but is now back to celebrate our 50th Anniversary.  Born in
Oklahoma City, OK, he started singing professionally in 1978 when he was hired by Buck Ram.  After 5
years of loyalty he was forced to leave to help raise his family.  He has been with the U.S. Postal Service
for the past 17 years and was named early in 2004 Ambassador Letter Carrier for the state of Nevada
Pacific Area until 2006.  With his help, maybe you'll see The Platters on an anniversary stamp.  He has
Gwendolyn Moore-Forsythe -We would like to introduce you to our new "dish."  Gwen was
born and raised in Los Angeles with a musical family consisting of zydeco, blues, and Motown sound.
Her professional career was launched in Las Vegas, Nevada at the "Moulin Rouge Hotel," and the
"Sahara Hotel."  She has entertained many crowds with her beautiful voice and sophisticated stage
presence. Gwen has toured the world with The Supremes, The Marvelettes, The Vondellas, and The
Shirelles.  All great tributes to these remarkable artists.  She even performed with our own former Platter

Darrell has appeared as Porgy in productions of “Porgy & Bess”, Mozart’s “Marriage of Figaro”, and
Handel’s “Messiah”. He sings in three languages-French, Italian, and German. And for the record, the boy can
cook. This southern gentleman was taught by the best, “the men in his family”. Lookout all you seafood lovers, you
have not lived until you have sampled Darrell’s stuffed crab! Yum!
John has played bass since the age of 10.  He landed two major recording contracts with his own band, and has
recorded and performed with James Ingram, Al Green and Rose Royce. We are so happy to have a true bass
singer in the line-up again. There is nothing like the five part harmony that was put together by Buck Ram in 1953.
also joined in the past former Buck Ram Platter members Sherman James, Gene Williams, and Edwin Cook on
stage, but not as Platters.  We feel very fortunate to welcome him back and rely on his experience learned under
Buck Ram's reign, to perfect what Buck strived for in the music.
"Zola Taylor" and her group.  We are happy to welcome this multi-talented singing sensation to our family, and in
case anyone noticed the same last name as one of our other members, yes, Terry and Gwen are a long time item.
